How to do Bicycle Crunch

Setup

Lie on your back with hands lightly touching behind your head and legs extended. Lift your shoulder blades off the ground and raise your legs a few inches above the floor.

How to do it

  1. Bring your right elbow toward your left knee while pulling that knee toward your chest.
  2. Simultaneously extend your right leg straight out, hovering above the ground.
  3. Switch sides in a pedaling motion, bringing left elbow to right knee.
  4. Rotate through your torso rather than just moving your elbows.
  5. Keep your lower back pressed toward the floor throughout the movement.

Watch out for

  • Pulling on the neck with hands instead of supporting the head gently.
  • Moving too fast and losing the rotation through the core.
  • Letting the extended leg drop too low or rest on the ground between reps.
